Policy & Advocacy

Advocating for legislation that advances equity for women and girls across Washington.

Policy Work

Our Role

Our Commission was established to serve a distinct role within the Office of the Governor: to advocate for legislation that advances equity and removes systemic barriers for women and girls.

As a designated voice within state government, we work to ensure public policy meets the needs of women across Washington (RCW 43.119.005) by connecting with communities historically-excluded from decision-making and advising the Governor, legislature, and state agencies.

Our Policy Process

Each year, we follow a structured and inclusive process to identify and advance the issues that impact the lives of Washington women and girls.

Tribal Relations

The Women’s Commission is committed to fostering meaningful relationships with Tribal nations and consulting Tribes on issues affecting their communities. Our Tribal Liaison supports, informs and guides these efforts.
