March for Reproductive Justice

10/04/2021

On October 2, 2021 people across the nation gathered to rally for basic reproductive rights in response to Texas' Senate Bill 8, also known as the Texas abortion law, that seeks to restrict women's access to abortion.

In Washington State, the Seattle chapter of the Women’s March held a rally at Westlake Park. In addition, advocates in many other cities across the state organized their own local rallies to support reproductive justice.

Representatives of the Women's Commission were proud to join the rallies in Seattle, Sequim, and Port Angeles.

The message at each of the rallies was clear: attempts to remove a woman's right to make decisions about her own body and health disproportionately impact BIPOC, working-class, and poor communities, and we must keep fighting back.

Threats to human rights anywhere are a threat to human rights everywhere, and we stand in support of a woman's freedom to make decisions about her own body.
