Sexual Harassment Model Policy

Supporting safer workplaces for all.

Our role

Fostering safe, respectful work environments in Washington

When the Washington State Legislature considered establishing the Women’s Commission in 2018, both the state and nation were reckoning with reports of widespread sexual harassment and assault, brought to the forefront by the #MeToo movement. In response, the Legislature included language directing the Commission to focus on this issue.

Our initiative

A model sexual harassment policy

In 2019, the Women’s Commission Safety committee collaborated with pro bono employment attorneys from the Seattle office of Gordon Rees to create a model sexual harassment policy specifically designed for small employers with limited resources.

This initiative aims to support businesses across Washington foster safe, respectful work environments, not only for women but for all. Businesses can choose to adopt these policies to prevent and raise awareness of sexual harassment in the workplace.
